Hi Danita,Check your email!Carol
Hi there! I came across your blog doing a Pinterest search and I just love it. I'm not a School Counselor but I'm a counselor in a school (does that even make sense?). I work for an agency that received a grant in order to provide social-emotion support to students at a PK-8 school. The principal has a very clear idea on how he'd like to utilize my services - prevention work through classroom guidance and classroom meetings. I completely agree and I LOVED going into classrooms the last 2 months of the school year (that is when I was hired). I'm starting a fresh school year and have been asked to put together a full schedule for the school year. I thought this would be easy, but I'm stuck on where to start! I'm not a certified school counselor so I didn't go through any training and I'm doing a lot of research to learn more about ASCA standards which I think I have a good handle on. However, how do you know what topics to start with? The principal isn't too clear on where he wants to start other than a large focus on the middle school grades. How do you decide what lessons to start with? Any help would be great. Thank you so much!
Hi,I'd love to talk to you more about this. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can send you some info that may help. Thanks for visiting my blog!Carol

Good Morning,My name is Connie West and I am proud to announce that I have just obtained my first school counselor contract. I am very excited. I will be starting out with 7th grade. I have done work in elementary schools, but I do not have too much knowledge and information with middle school. Do you have any information that you would offer for someone going into their first year. I am unsure as to what materials I will need and lessons that would be best for middle school. Any information that you would be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. I have also requested to be a part of the middle school page.Connie Westcejm11@hotmail.com

Hi Carol. I want ask something. Have you a documentation forms about behavior? And have you a documentation forms for counselor in school? Thanks.
Hi Carol - Middle School Counselor,In middle school the fear of losing old friends has confined students to one cliche. However, shouldn’t making new friends mean not losing the old ones? Girl Scout always sing the song ’’Make New Friends’’ around the campfire. Even though girl scouts sing this song, middle schoolers, still hard to make friends at Girl Scout meetings.I know this first hand, because I am a middle school Girl Scout. For my Diplomat Award, I have to complete a project that addresses a friendship issue. One of the suggested project ideas includes writing a friendship advice column in partnership with an adult. Partnering with you to write a couple articles for your blog would help me reach goal. Additionally, I have insight into friendship issues in middle school and you have the experience to help me navigate these issues for other middle schoolers.More importantly, I am interested in contributing to your blog as a way to get experience in preparation for a career in journalism. As a straight A student, I received the Present’s Education Award at my 8th graduation earlier this month. Thanks for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.Sincerely,Lauren
Thank you so much Carol for sharing all your knowledge and resources. After 20 years as a counselor with pregnant teens I am now working 3 days a week at a middle school. I am in awe of your energy and ability to create such awesome presentations and materials. How do you find the time to do it all? Please tell me your secret.
Hi! I just love reading your posts and finding you on Pinterest. I have been searching for a lesson for my 5th graders with no luck. Red ribbon week is approaching and I would love to teach a lesson on making positive choices, just in life in general. I want to use a clip from Alice in Wonderland where she can't decide which way to go. I taught a peer pressure lesson in 4th grade so I would like to touch on that again, but include making positive choices in everyday life. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated!!!
Hello! I am a 6th-8th School Counselor and new to the school. I came from a very small school where I dealt with all grades (EC-12) so this is much different than i am use to. I would love any advice you could give me. I would love to start the lunch bunch program or Coffee with the Counselor but not sure where to even start or how to select students. I would also love to start a newsletter but there again I have no idea where to start or what to even put in it.
Carol... I SOOO LOVE your willingness to share & mentor through the WONDERFUL posts on your site. I noticed that you had a ASCA Leadership Book Study during the summer and though it is finished I would love access to view the articles as well as discussions. I am planning to complete this course and want an idea of what I am getting myself into before I decide WHEN I will tackle it. Thank you so much for ALL that you do and any consideration given to my request. It will come from RhasSmith@outlook.com. Have a BLESSED and RESTFUL HOLIDAY! Rhas
